First Day on the Job - BLOGPOST FOR READING AND ATTENDANCE

Think of the time when you have received congratulations on your first job offer. You’ve accepted that offer and are now ready to start working in an organization. Here are some important things you must know for making your first day a success.

1. Arrive a few minutes (30 minutes) early- Be punctual - before time

This will show your manager that you’re eager to start working and enthusiastic about your job. Its good to start early to avoid delays—you don’t  want to get caught in traffic on your first day.

2. Be polite, courteous and smile

You’ll probably be introduced to many different people on your first day. Be professional and polite and don’t worry if you can’t remember everyone’s name right away. This will come with time. But give it a try every day.

Acknowledge each person you meet as worthy of a personal greeting. This is especially important for you at all times. Listen attentively and wait before you speak. Learn something from everyone you meet. Resist the thought to provide instant answers...think and then answer !!!

3. Take notes as much as possible

Don’t be shy about keeping track of all the new information you’ll learn on your first day. When in doubt, take notes to make sure you don’t forget any important information from your new colleagues and boss.

4. Try Understanding Organizational Culture on your first day at the new job

Organizations are like human beings and have a culture and a few customs to go with it. A good way to begin is to understand the mission and vision statement of the firm. Understanding the culture helps in understanding the work environment and expectations from your profile.

5. Set SMART Goals

6.  Go in with an open mind and be ready to learn. Throughout the first few weeks get to know the workplace culture.

7. Ask questions, lots of questions. Asking questions demonstrates your interest and ensures that you will be prepared for when the time comes to take on tasks solo. No one expects you to know everything in your first job, you learn and grow faster when you ask for help

While you can be successful in your career without setting goals, you can be even more successful with goal setting. Always write them down and share the list with someone. This will help you to create a sense of accountability.Step out of your comfort zone
One of the best ways to advance your career is to identify and solve an organizational problem your company is experiencing. If you can identify a problem within your organization, propose a solution, and implement it, you will not only increase your visibility in the organization, but also expand your skills in the process.Perform market research

The second step is to look into the market growth and job opportunity. Not only this, but you should also make sure that the carrier fulfills your financial requirement with time or not.
Matching your qualification with the qualification required by the carrier. This is the most important part of carrier planning; you have to become the most desired candidate for the job. 18. Q.1 Things that you'll do on the first day on the job
Ans- It is suffice to say that the first day is one of the most, if not the most, important day in one's career. It signifies the inception of future and everything in between. Therefore, it is imperative to go about this day in the best way possible.
Arrive a little early: Arriving 10-15 minutes earlier than asked for is mighty beneficial. It shows your eagerness and enthusiasm for the job as well as help you scope out your workplace a bit.
Positive outlook: People often get nervous and paranoid when introduced to new environment. To negate this, one should have a positive behavior towards everything new. By being positive, you'll project a very affirmative image to your future seniors and colleagues.
Hunger for knowledge- New environment will bring you new challenges but its also going to bring a lot of good learning opportunities. Don't be shy from learning things by experiencing them, committing mistakes, taking notes etc.
Understand your job- Understanding your job or job description is one of issues plaguing today's youth. Learning on the fly is good in some cases but having a brief understanding of the job profile will help you a lot more.
Goals- Having a long term goal followed by a short term goal is ideal. A good long term goal will push you everyday to give your best while good short term goals always keeps you from getting disheartened.

Q.2 How are you planning your career?
Ans- Planning for your career is a very extensive and well thought out process. It literally is the groundwork for your future. I've been planning for my career since I passed out of my highschool. Having a clear image is very important while designing a roadmap to your own future. After the completion of my undergraduate I'm planning to gain knowledge as well as experience in professional work environment. I've always been fascinated with functioning and know how's of particular things. I'm going to build up my career on this fascination. Setting a very lofty long term goal with a few short term goals in between will help me not only achieve my goal but achieve my goal with my interest and beliefs intact at the end. This is how I'll become the architect of my own future

Q2. After graduation, i am planning to opt for higher studies, most probably Masters in Business Administration. Initially i am planing to take good placement from college so i can arrange some capital for the startup and i will keep on preparing side by side for the masters. There are many competitive exams which can be attempted for pursuing MBA in different universities. My ultimate goal in life is to open my own business related to hospitality.
